MENA Newswire News Desk: ADNOC Gas plc has awarded the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for new gas processing facilities at the Bab Gas Cap (BGC) to Worley Engineering Pty Ltd. The project is set to increase ADNOC Gas’ processing capacity by 20%, or over 1.8 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd). A Final Investment Decision (FID) is expected in 2026. The Bab Gas Cap project is integral to ADNOC’s gas growth strategy, designed to enhance production of natural gas liquids (NGL), condensate, sales gas, and sulfur.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s objective of achieving gas self-sufficiency while reinforcing ADNOC Gas’ global market presence. Dr. Ahmed Alebri, CEO of ADNOC Gas, highlighted the project’s significance, stating, “This milestone has the potential to substantially enhance our gas processing capabilities, unlock additional revenue, and support the UAE’s energy security goals. Utilizing advanced technologies, the BGC project exemplifies ADNOC’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.”

The design scope encompasses various gas processing facilities, including conditioning units, acid gas recovery, dehydration, sulfur recovery, NGL recovery units, and CO2 capture systems. Additionally, it includes injection facilities, utilities, and the development of pipelines to transport liquid sulfur to the Habshan Sulfur Granulation Plant.

The facilities will process hydrocarbons from the Bab field, where advanced technologies allow simultaneous extraction of oil and gas. This innovative approach is expected to achieve daily production of 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas and 80,000 barrels of condensate, maximizing both operational and economic efficiency.

ADNOC’s commitment to state-of-the-art technologies underscores its dedication to sustainable resource management and economic growth. By focusing on optimization and innovation, the BGC project will make a significant contribution to ADNOC’s long-term goals. This project marks a critical step in ADNOC Gas’ journey to expand operations, address rising energy demand, and maintain its reputation as a dependable global energy supplier.
